Here are some guidelines of point and shoot photography that you should consider, but beware – follow them and it might lead to amazing PiconBricks!
Lighting
Try to frame the sun behind you. It will create a sharper image and will protect your photo from being too bright.
The best time to take a photo during “Golden Hour” – an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset.
Settings
Don’t be afraid to turn off your flash. The flash is usually too harsh and you don’t want to wash out you subject. When in doubt, use natural light!
Switch to macro mode for small, close subjects. This setting should look like a tulip on your dial.
Framing and Composition
This deals with where you place your subject in the photo frame.
When shooting portraits, it is key to emphasize your subject. To do this, fill the frame with your subject, but don’t forget to leave just enough background space around the subject. The closer and tighter you are to the frame, the better the photograph will look.

If you aren’t shooting a standard head-shot, it is important to follow the rule of thirds. According to the rule of thirds, you should try to place your subject between the first or last third of the frame. Those guidelines can help a photographer draw their subject in a way that is dynamic and pleasing to the viewer.
Location
Last but not least, don’t forget the Location!!! Choice of location can easily transform a good picture into a great picture thus an unforgettable Piconbrick 😉
